Jack’s Golden Years

About me

I was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia. I attended Northeast High School and Temple University. My first job was as a research technician at the Institute for Cancer Research, where I met my wife, Eva. We both subsequently got jobs at the Merck pharmaceutical company. I started as a lab technician in Virology Control, followed by short stints in Environmental Control and Process Validation, before finding a home in Worldwide Product Safety, where I went on to become the Director of Adverse Event Information Management. After a 31-year career at Merck, I took an early retirement. After a short time doing some pharmaceutical consulting, I found a second career at the Sellersville Theater as house manager and volunteer coordinator, where I worked with many of my favorite musicians. I have since retired from that job as well, so I am free to do what I enjoy most- spending time with family, traveling, attending sporting events and concerts, hiking, and focusing on my health and wellness, including supporting prostate cancer awareness. Subscribe to my blog below to follow along as a write about my experiences living life in my “golden years”.
